The hardest current gen console to get into has now finally been hacked. So says geohot. Geohot is known for jailbreaking the iPhone. If anyone could get the job done it is definitely him. This is what he says

In the interest of openness, I’ve decided to release the exploit. Hopefully, this will ignite the PS3 scene, and you will organize and figure out how to use this to do practical things, like the iPhone when jailbreaks were first released. I have a life to get back to and can’t keep working on this all day and night.

The coveted PS3 exploit, gives full memory space access and therefore ring 0 access from OtherOS. This is known to work with version 2.4.2 only, but I imagine it works on all current versions.

Demons Souls, a new RPG brought exclusively to the PS3 in NA by Atlas. Created by Japans own From Software, famous for other titles such as Armored Core and Tenchu. Demons Souls places the player into a world of darkness and no mercy. The environment is brutal and death is inevitable. Death is this worlds one and only constant.

Story

King Allant XIII feverishly searches for ways to increase the power of his kingdom of Boletaria. He taps into the unfathomable power of souls, and the kingdom flourishes. Greed and the lust for power overtake the king, and he foolishly awakens the Old One. The Old One is a demon of nearly infinite power, and begins to consume Boletaria. A colorless, thick fog covers Boletaria, cutting it off from the rest of the world. The fog creeps slowly from Boletarian borders. Humanity faces a slow, but steady extinction. Vallarfax of the Royal Twin Fangs breaks free of the fog to tell the world of Boletarias plight. Demons have taken over the prestigious kingdom and are devouring the souls of man. Men who lose their souls also lose their minds. The mad attack the sane, and chaos reigns. Warriors from distant lands gather at the fog to help release Boletaria from its demise. Many venture into the fog, but none ever return.

Game play

Demons Souls is an Action RPG at heart, with a heavy emphasis on strategy. Some enemies may require you to take quick action and react quickly to their attacks. Others need a more strategic touch. Taking on a horde of slave demons may or may not be harder than taking on a soul deprived knight. There are many ways for the player to dispatch threats. When starting the game, players must create their character, either from presets, randomization, or intricate customization. Then the player must choose a class, which is the most important aspect for the beginning of the game. There are the basic classes such as the knight, thief and mage. Then there are the specialized classes such as the Temple Knight, good for miracles and defense, or the Royal, substantially the weakest starting class, but starts with the best inventory. However players choose to start, the game is always challenging. While playing in Demons Souls, it is truly inevitable that you will die (The tutorial will kill you at the end, regardless of how skilled you are). Players are resurrected in the Nexus, the hub to all of the worlds (levels) of Boletaria. But when they are brought to the Nexus, they are no longer alive. When a player dies in body form, they go into soul form. While in soul form, your maximum HP is reduced to 50%. This is a huge reduction, considering the amount of damage a normal enemy can deal. To regain your body, you must either defeat a boss demon, invade and kill another player(explained in the Multiplayer section), or use a rare item. When players kill enemies, they obtain souls. Souls are the currency and experience of Demons Souls. They are used to level up and to buy equipment from merchant NPCs. Whenever a player dies, the souls they were carrying will be lost, but not forever. If the player returns to the site of their death, they can touch their bloodstain and regain the souls that they lost when they died. Be wary, though, because if you die before you reach your bloodstain, the souls are lost for good. There is no such thing as a Soul Bank, so players must be extremely careful when carrying a large amount of souls. Most souls will be used on level ups, some on equipment, and some on consumable healing items.

Multiplayer

Unlike other RPGs, Demons Souls is online capable. While online, players can leave hints for others to read in the form of short messages. These range from warning players of certain traps or enemies in the area, to the weakness of bosses, and where to find special items. Also part of the online system is the blood stains. Whenever someone of another game dies while playing a level, they will leave a blood stain on the floor. If another player touches that bloodstain, the events of that persons death will play for them, leaving clues about oncoming traps and enemy ambushes. But perhaps the most valuable part of the multiplayer is being able to play with others. While in soul form, players have access to items called Eye Stones. Each stone has a different color and when used, has a different effect. Blue Eye Stone will leave Blue Soul Signs on the floor where the player used it. When a player is alive in body form, they can summon players from other worlds to their world through blue soul signs to be Blue Phantoms in their world. Only players in soul form can be summoned. The host player must be in body form, or in other words, alive. Soul form players have lost their body to other circumstances, be it traps, enemies, or any number of other things that cause death. The host player plays through the level normally, while the summoned player is a sort of helper. At the end of the level, all players face the demon boss at the end. If the demon is slain, the Blue Phantoms are rewarded with resurrection, and return to their own world with their body. When a player uses a Black Eye Stone will start an invasion of another players world. Only players who are in body form can be invaded, and invasion can only happen within a certain level limit, as not to have more powerful players invading newer players. When a player invades anothers world, they become a Black Phantom. The goal of black phantoms is to kill the host player. If the host player is killed, the black phantom is rewarded with their body back, and returned to their own world. This is not without consequence though. Should the black phantom die to the environment, or anything else besides the host player or any blue phantoms they may have summoned, the black phantom loses a soul level. This is non-reversible(except of course, leveling up again).

Conclusion

If you are a hardcore RPG player, this game is a must have. Pull that money out of that strippers g-string, and run to your nearest game retailer. It is a precaution, though, this game is not for casual gamers. This game will frustrate you, defeat you, slam your hand in the car door, shut it, and start driving. Everyone should give this game a try, but most will say it is too hard. If you can get into this game, you will never put it down.

All I have to say is Wow, and that is after I try to find my jaw on the ground. They got rid of the B movie theme and really amped it up with this one. Where are the boycotters now?

So the Tokyo Game Show has been over for a little bit now but it looked like a blast! We have scowered over the interwebs to find the best Booth Babes and Cosplayers around.

Those poor, poor L4D boycotters. They are going to see a lot, I mean A LOT of Left 4 Dead 2. Valve is planning on spending $25 million on advertising compared to the $10 million for the first installment. Already the game is the most pre-ordered game in the company’s arsenal.

We are going to see some ads during Monday Night Football Games and as well as some UFC fights. For our European buddies ads will be running in there football games. They are really going all out on this one. Magazines, billboards, and website advertising.

Microsoft is getting with the times and are releasing a Wireless N adapter. Gamestop has listed the price to be $99.99 and most likely the older Wireless adapter model will be sold for $79.99. Currently Gamestop is the only retailer selling the device on November 3. Don’t quote me on that.

Square Enix’s last great success is Dragon Quest IX. It has sold 3.7 million copies in Japan alone.

Yoichi Wada believes that the next greatest Square Enix release will sell 5 million copies domestically.

This is really possible if you think about it. Let’s say they sell 4 million in Japan and 2 million in the US then it could be a possibility. That right there is 6 million. Now with the PS3 bundle you could add another million to that. That there my friends would set the number over Yoichi’s mark.

Embedded in a flash site is apparently the Japanese release date for Final Fantasy XIII. That release date is December 17.

The flash site’s URL had “_Before_” in it, and typing “_After” seems to bring up this image, which clearly states that the game goes on sale December 17, 2009. Previously, the title was announced for “this winter”.

The rumored date is Japan only.

This release date is still unconfirmed. However, as local YouTube ads point out, Square Enix will be announcing the title’s Japanese release date today.

Well its just been official announced by Apple.com that Snow Leopard is being released on August 28. Also apple is now accepting pre orders for snow lepard on their website so if your a mac user go pick this one up now one advantage im happy for is that when you install snow lepard you get 7 Gb back from your hard drive and you are able to use that free space for anything you want music, vides, etc.
